Historical Investigation of the Alger Hiss Trial
The primary goal of this investigation is to examine the extent of justice that resulted from the trial of "The United States of America vs. Alger Hiss" and how the trial paved the political way for the now proverbial Joseph McCarthy and Richard Nixon. In part B of this investigation, the role of Alger Hiss in the government prior to the trial and circumstances of the trial itself will be looked at. Then, two sources significant to this investigation, Venona and Alger Hiss and an excerpt from Richard Nixon's book, Six Crises, will be evaluated in terms of their origin, purpose, value, and limitation. Ensuing the source evaluation will be an analysis of evidence that will reveal the just and political impact of the trial and a conclusion will be reached.
