Significance of a Dramatic Climax in Consider the Lilies

Scottish literature hails Iain Crichton Smith's "Consider the Lilies" as a benchmark of literary substance which builds up into a dramatic and moving climax. Through an exegesis of this highly acclaimed piece of literature, I will attempt to constructively conduct an analysis of the author's employment of structure and language in effectively consummating an intense and significant apogee.
"Consider the Lilies" has been acknowledged as an invaluable fragment of Scottish culture as it pays tribute to the Highland Clearances. On a more intimate level, it is a story within a story in which the investigation of relationships with one's physical and social surroundings are threaded into Murdina Scott's turbulent life, and pivoted around the profound preponderance of an ideology and yet one's ability to escape it's binding shackles.
