Summary: Describes how Australian Aboriginal religious symbols relate to their beliefs of dreaming. Describes Aboriginal art as being very simplistic and illustrated by their use of circles, curved lines, straight lines and dots. Explores how people are able to feel the artwork because it allows interaction between the environment and the person in contact with the artwork.
Today I will be talking about how Aboriginal symbols relate to their beliefs of the Dreaming.

Generally speaking the majority of Aboriginal Art is very simplistic illustrated by their use of circles, curved lines, straight lines and dots. Although, simple these symbols maybe appear from an outsider. A person with enough level of knowledge will be able to interpret this design differently. Most of the artwork seen today are inherited from elders and may have been used hundreds of years to explain the Dreamtime. Some examples of symbols are a circle may represent a waterhole, camp, fire, hill or hole. A U shape illustrates a person seated.

In general, the symbols that are exposed to the wider community are the more abstract drawings. This includes human and animal figures, ceremonial ornaments and weapons. In all of them there is no sense of proportion shown by weapons being bigger...
