Australian Soldiers in WWII

When Adolf Hitler invaded Poland, the British had had enough. Their policy of appeasement had resulted in the expansion of Germany which not only included Sudetenland but the whole of the Czech Republic. Poland was the last straw and on September 3 1939, war was declared. Almost automatically Australia's Prime Minister Robert Menzies responded by announcing the need of Australia to enter the war and defend the world from the Nazis who were planning to take Russia, France and ultimately Britain which would constitute one of the most powerful empire the world had ever seen. Menzies announced the following sixteen words which would mean so much: "Great Britain has declared War on Germany, and as a result Australia is also at war." These words catapulted Australia into the worst conflict in history with 56.4 million deaths and a cost of A$3 trillion in total. Australians endured many experiences during the war...
