Caesar was born approximately 100 B.C. and died around 44 B.C. Caesar was a noble Roman leader who participated in many activities dealing with his community. Caesar was and still is known as one of history's greatest rulers of the Roman Empire. As a young adult he was raised through the ranks of the Roman republic, building up power until he was elected consul in 59 B.C. Also in that year he set out to make new conquests and after fighting for nine years he brought Gaul under Roman control. Finally Caesar was named dictator for life. Caesar set up many reforms to deal with many of Rome's problems. He launched a program for public works, for the jobless, and supplied public land for the poor.
