Film Noir

Film noir uses a variety of techniques in an underlying way to add to the depth of the film. Some of these techniques include symbiotic characters, moral coding, obsessions/delusions, characters with flawed traits, and voice over narration during flashback scenes. All of these add for a positive impact in then film, however a technique that really stands out and helps the viewer take in an understanding of the movie is setting and how it foreshadows things to come. In both Double Indemnity and Sunset Boulevard one can connect the setting in many scenes to not only foreshadow what may happen, but as well as the outcome of these actions.
