Heroes and How They Have Evolved Over the Years

Summary: Describes how the heroes of Anglo-Saxon times have evolved over time. Describes how the hero Beowulf differs from those in modern times.
Although much has changed from the time of Anglo-Saxon literature until now, qualities found in heroes remain very similar through and through. In Beowulf, Beowulf is the main character and possesses many of the desired qualities of that time. Some of these included his great strength, leadership, goodness, and protectiveness. He is said to have, " Similarly, in today's world our super-heroes are always strong and protective, and work for good. Some heroes of today don't need to be greatly strong or brave, though. A hero in today's society can act for others and make sacrifices for themselves. Although 1300 years has passed, much of the literary concepts remain the same and still give our young people a grand view of who they should consider their idols.
