The youths of nations have always rebelled against their elders. German-Jewish youth in the Weinmar Republic were no different. While many Jewish adults in Germany were going about their daily lives, proudly proclaiming their German nationalism, Jewish youth had begun to assert a different characteristic: their Jewish-ness.
The earlier years of the Weinmar Republic, say 1920 to 1930, saw a rise in the number of strictly-Jewish youth groups. While their parents before them belonged to German social clubs, the children of this time began to proclaim their Jewish pride. This was primarily
due to the fact that the youth at this time were the first to be targeted by the Nazi anti-Jewish legislations.
