"My Brother Sam is Dead" is an incredible novel written by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier. This story begins with a family sitting down to supper. A boy comes in named Sam, who is also a member of this family. Sam's entire family are Tories. Except for himself. He begins talking about how the Patriots massacred the "lobsterbacks" from Concord to Boston. This later begins a fight and the action in the story begins.

This story begins in April 1775, right after the battle(s) of Lexington and Concord. Sam Meeker dies at the end of the book, in the year of 1779. In that period of time, the declaration of Independence was signed. They do not speak much of it in the story, though.
