Rule with an iron fist restricts freedom. George W. Bush once said, "There ought to be limits on freedom." Where is that independence our founding fathers granted to us at the birth of our nation? Do we now have Machiavellian rule in the White House? Will 2004 become a "big brother" society like that in the book 1984? The Patriot Act monitors what we read, watching us like "big brother", restricting free will and violating privacy.

A limited set of collected freedoms exists within our society. In the United States there are freedoms that we use everyday. According to our Declaration of Independence we are "endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights, which are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
