In a country where gas prices are at an all time high, $1.82 per gallon, where there are more cars than any where else, where the country is in the middle of a war some refer to as "Operation Oil" it is quite evident that oil plays an important role. Oil is the cornerstone of many other industries. It shapes the economy, both in the U.S. and in other countries. The price for gas is making it almost impossible to keep the family car because wages are down and prices are rising. The country is in a worse economic state than it was in during the Great Depression. The U.S. posses the power to obtain the resource that it cannot function without but thus far, it has yet to take full advantage of this break.
