Palliative care is a philosophy of care, which insures the greatest emotional, physical, and spiritual comfort for terminally ill clients when aggressive treatment is no longer desirable or appropriate.

The palliative care unit provided at Miramichi Hospital is a home away from home. Many clients are unable to stay at home for their final hours for a variety of reasons. It could be their physical health, their family support system, or their financial situation. It is fortunate for them and their families to have the palliative care unit at the Miramichi Hospital.
