Production Notes for Billy Liar

Geoffrey Fisher is first introduced to the audience on page two of act one of the play `Billy Liar' when he enters a living room. He is described in the play as a "tall man in his early fifties" who is carrying a "few invoices." This immediately indicates that Geoffrey's character seems to be of a serious man, and this is how I think the actor playing him should behave while on stage. To cement this image, I would want the actor to stride on confidently, ignoring the other characters on stage and focusing on the invoices. I also think it would be effective for him to be wearing some pressed, smart trousers, a white shirt and a navy cardigan. I think it would be appropriate too for him to be wearing some beige socks with smart black leather shoes,which helps to show how he is wealthy...
