The shocking event of bloody Sunday was not caused by one or two events or issues, but rather a collection of past dealings and tribulations which gradually built to its happening. Although this seems obvious to most, some northern Irish Protestants and British argue the day's activities are down to the Northern Irish Civil Rights Association march itself. They reason that if the march had not taken place the following deaths would not have happened, although this is true it is not the only cause. Historians, and politicians, are forced to ask, if the march had not happened would similar events have taken place"
