Is all change growth? Is all movement forward? These are questions which Judith Wright examines through her poetry. Change is inevitable however to change and to change for the better are two different things. In Wrights collection of poetry some poems such as Bora Ring and Eve to Her Daughters show that change and movement are not necessarily for the better. However in some of her other poems including Bullocky we are made to see the benefits and growth that can come as a result of change. Wright deals with this question of whether change is growth by looking at typical Australian characters and ordinary experiences and talking of how they can have a broader message, and what that message is.
