The novel The Maiden's Tale by Margaret Frazer is historically accurate with many of the people, places, and events that are in the story. Most of the story takes place in London, England during the 1400's. At Coldharbour Manor, a messenger transporting a secret note to pass along to the Duc d'Orleans is found dead. Lady Alice, the mistress of Coldharbour Manor, is in a state of panic because she must make sure that note does not land in the wrong hands because if it did she would be in a heap of trouble with King Henry VI. Alice's cousin, Sister Frevisse of the St. Frideswide nunnery, arrives for a visit. This nun is the main character who is always solving mysteries and Alice plans to use her to do so.
