Mexico is one of the few countries that is classified in the transitional state of development. Many political, economic, geographical factors help define Mexico as a transitional country. Based on the statistics at the CIA website, one is drawn more towards the conclusion that Mexico, in fact, is a transitional country.
Of many economic factors, the ones that show that Mexico is the transitional state are the Imports vs. Exports ratio and the GDP per capita. Mexico exports more than it imports, therefore they have a favorable balance of trade. On the other hand, Mexico, when compared to Ethiopia, has a better GDP per capita and a fewer number of citizens below the poverty line. Still, there exists an enormous difference between the percent of the population below the poverty line when comparing Mexico to the US.
