The book My Brother Sam is Dead is written by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier. The book takes place during the Revolutionary War in a little town called Reding. The narrator's brother, Sam, enrolls in the Patriot Army, going against his father's strong loyal feelings. Both Sam and his father die at the end of the book. The author gives a good sense of time and place which they back up with the actions happening most of the time. To enhance those two great features of this book there is the very moody atmosphere. These three aspects, especially the moodiness, give this book a great setting and plot.
