Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cancer is very hard to detect, especially in the early stages. This cancer affects the two small, almond shaped organs, which are located in the deep regions of the abdomen, one on each side of the uterus. Only about 10% of all cases are diagnosed and treated in early stages. Every 5-10 women out of 100 with ovarian cancer have 1 or more relatives with it.
There are quite a few symptoms. These symptoms occur when tumors begin to grow and place pressure on the bladder and rectum, and fluids begin to form. Some of the symptoms are: unexplained change in bowel and/or bladder habits, such as constipation, urinary frequency and/or incontinence. Gastrointestinal upset, such as gas, indigestion and/or nausea. Unexplained weight loss or weight gain. Pelvic and/or abdominal pain or discomfort along with bloating and/or swelling.
