The Once and Future King, by T. H White is a novel based on the life of Arthur, King of Camelot. This story is not illustrated in a romanticized way, or even as a battle tale. Rather White show that Arthur's main interest throughout the entire novel is his conflict of might and right versus Arthur's compassion for Guinevere and Lancelot. While Guinevere and Lancelot are having an affair Arthur refuses to acknowledge it. He feels that if he denies it he will save himself the hurt of knowing the betrayal, and the pain of having to carry out the justice. Arthur deals with the issue of might, which is portrayed as physical strength to enforce right or justice. Arthur's good-hearted nature and good intentions will pave the way to his own destruction.
