The popular saying that most people tend to say is that everyone is different and no two people are the same. The character Icy Sparks, from the novel Icy Sparks by Gwyn Hyman Rubio, is a ten year old girl who begins to experience strange habits she calls her urges. These urges turn out to be the result of the disorder known as Tourette's Syndrome, however throughout the novel the cause of her behaviour is unknown. Icy is unable to keep her urges a secret and because she lives in a small town, struggles to adjust in society. Simon Birch, from the self in titled movie directed by Mark Steven Johnson, is a twelve year old boy who has similar difficulties to Icy Spark's character.
