During the 1920's, African Americans in addition to women were able to climb the social staircase into the world previously inhabited predominantly by white men. This world proved to be both beneficial and disadvantageous for those people. Moral groups also were able to impact the nation at that time, and managed to stir up an additional commotion. There were clashes between races, sexes, and values throughout the nation as certain groups of people advanced in society. African Americans, women, rural and urban inhabitants all faced difficulties in their struggle for their beliefs and their place in society.
