Summary: Essay discusses the Pros and Cons of the Declaration of Independence.
By declaring independence in 1776 the colonies faced an uphill battle that would eventually prove to be advantageous, however on the way they faced a myriad of struggles. The British Kingdom was abusing the colonies for years. The British had little justification for the extreme taxation of the colonies. The Declaration of Independence was a just document that would help the colonies get out from under the oppressive thumb of the British parliament, but not without some disadvantages. The parliament used the colonies as indentured servants to pay of the debt.

Massive debts were incurred during imperial wars waged by Great Britain. The French Indian War, King George's War, the War of Austrian Succession, the Seven Years War, King William's War, and Queen Anne's War all reeked havoc on the English economy.
