In the midst of international and state-sanctioned terrorism, it is becoming increasingly difficult to decide who should be the authority in limiting terrorist acts. Over the years, the United States has come to the forefront in leading the `War on Terror,' the `War on Drugs,' the `War on Poverty,' and many other declared international crises. Due to the amount of attention the United States receives, many citizens believe we should set an example to the international community by taking a proactive stance on these and other critical issues. However, many critics of this United States policy argue that we are acting as the world police and overstepping our bounds to help the world solve its problems. Both arguments have strong points to support their respective positions, and until a compromise is reached, the United States will remain in the middle of this controversy.
