Hope is something that keeps people going. It drives them to achieve the goals they set for themselves. When a person has hope, their life has meaning and purpose and they can overcome incredible hardship. Without hope, people would not be able to achieve their goals because they would have nothing good to look forward to in their life. Hope is one of the major themes in the book Lazarus and The Hurricane, a book about the freeing of Rubin Carter with the help of a boy named Lezra Martin and some Canadians. Rubin never gave up hope, which was a key factor for him making it through prison. The reason why some people like Rubin Carter, will not give up hope is because of strength, determination and belief in one's self but others do give up hope because they lack either one or more of this attributes...
