Inspector Goole was in charge of the case about the suicide of a young working-class woman. He was the strongest, the dominate figure since his appearance. He first appeared at the middle of scene one, just after the engagement between Gerald and Sheila. His appearance changed completely the atmosphere of the scene, it became actually very dense, and the way that the characters were talking as well. We could find evidence just in the beginning of act1. In the large description of this act, "The lighting should be pink and intimate until the inspector arrives, and then should be brighter and harder."
