The Metamorphasis
Summary: Discusses the novel "The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka.
The Metamorphosis has been and will always be one of my favorite short stories/novellas. Even though the symbolisms in and between characters amidst the story were fairly obvious to pick up on, the story does lay the Existentialist plot out well. Some would disagree with my theory that this is a blatant Existentialist work. I would and could never understand why someone would disagree, though. It is clearly so because it is the epitome of Existential writing. It was definitely philosophic, absurd, and alienated.
The absurdity of Gregor's "rebirth" into the human world is utter brilliance. He has suddenly transformed from a human to an insect. I will not use the term metamorphosis because I believe that happens during his time as an insect.
