Summary: Essay describes the mistreatment and destruction of the Plains Indians.
The destruction of the Plains Indians was similar to the WWII holocaust in that it was a terrible slaughtering of innocent people. The destruction of the Plain Indians started after the civil war when settlers started to move west. Railroads played a key role in the slaughtering of the buffalo and the Indians.

When the railroads began to be built, it really affected the Indians. The railroads brought land hungry settlers to the Indians land. People also shot buffalo for sport off the trains. Diseases such as smallpox killed numerous Indians, but the main killer was the army.

Many battles led to Indian destruction. One of those battles was the battle of Sand Creek. This battle was caused by the Indians resisting invasion of the Fifty Niners.
