Letter to a Friend

Summary: Describes a letter to a friend in the novel "Oedipus" by Sophocles.
Dear friend,

Remember I told you that I was going to Thebes to visit one of my old friends? I regret my decision. The condition of the city is really bad. People are dying. I'm scared and I can't wait to leave.

A horrible plague is eating a city. To find out how to end the crisis Oedipus sent Creon to talk to Apollo and ask him for a solution. Creon said that a person who killed the old king Laius must die as well, and he is here, in Thebes.

While everyone was trying to figure out who is the murderer, Tiresias said he knows who it is. "Oedipus, I say you are the murderer you hunt"! - He said. Oedipus gone really mad and he is denying it. He swears to gods he is not the one.

I really want to see what happens next, but I'm also scared that Thebes may die and be forgotten. The curse may lie over the city, like a black rain cloud, till the end of the world.
