The New England and the Chesapeake were two areas settled by the English, yet did not seem to be places established by people who originated from the same homeland. Both regions had vast differences and numerous issues caused the groups to evolve into twos distinct societies. Some of the major factors that contributed to this diversity were the motives and goals, the types of settlers, and community and government of the original societies.
