Australia has a long standing history of racism from the early days when Australia was discovered, the treatment of Aboriginals, the white Australia policy and of course the treatment of men, woman and children arriving from different countries.

However, before I begin I would like to obliterate some outstanding myths about Australia's refugees.

Myth 1. If Australia opens up its arms to "illegals" we face a grave danger of terrorists and criminals coming by boat.
