Summary: This is an overall view of the treatment of Native Americans throughout European colonization.
The colonization process of Colonial America influenced countless people, in particular, the Native Americans. Even upon discovery, the land and the people native to it were claimed and taken advantage of. During the development of colonies, most Native American tribes were forced to find a new home, one without contact with the new European colonists. On the other hand, certain groups of Native Americans were treated differently, depending on their location or involvement with the Europeans themselves. Throughout the colonization process, the many Native American tribes as a whole were treated extremely badly; yet the deciding factor in their general treatment by means of the Europeans was their overall compliance with new European law and ability to prolong their own culture despite the Europeans' attempt to obliterate it.
