Summary: Critique of Flannery O'Connor and her short stories: relates the impact of her life on her style shown in her short stories.
Grotesque, absurd, violent, tragic, comic, and religious creates harmony? These characteristics of her writing are like water and oil; with drastic difference in their connotation, they are not known to mingle in harmony. However, her unique ability to bring them into harmony is what makes her a distinguished writer. Similar to many other writers her style reflects upon the lifestyle she lived.

At an early age of six, O'Connor recognized her fondness for writing as her true calling and decided to focus on her writing throughout her academic career. Writing fit her quiet personality perfectly. She was timid, taciturn, possessed a dry wit, and was not overly social. Even as an adult, she was not very social; she lived with friends and family, and she was not known for any love affairs. O'Connor was from a family of Catholics, and she too held strong beliefs of her religion...
