As the beginnings of the new land to be known as America were forming, motivations for colonists to make the journey were developing as well. There were several of these factors that were to bring the majority of the original population to the New World. These stimulants mostly had to do with freedoms not necessarily granted to citizens in Europe, primarily England. A few smaller, more positive incentives existed to would-be colonists. These might include several opportunities open to entrepreneurs that did not exist in Europe and England's thirst for a colonial empire. These motives are the reasons why colonists partook in the voyage across the world to form one of the most diverse and unrestrained countries in the history of the world.
