The Various Types of Love in Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare
In William Shakespeare's play of Twelfth Night love is one of the main themes and therefore imagery of love accompanies it. As the characters fall in and out of love is comical but also with the language Shakespeare uses we are forced to examine different kinds of love and compare them to others. Viola's long-suffering love is compared to Orsino who is only in love with the idea of being in love.
Orsino immediately introduces a kind of love in the play and we are led to believe that love of any sort will remain throughout the play.
