Summary: Are weather forecasts really accurate? Evaluates the weather forecasts over a 19 day period.
Weather conditions can be accurately predicted by using various scientific methods. To find out whether they are accurate or not, I will conduct research on a daily basis and compare weather forecasts with actual data. Weather forecasts are gathered by scientists with many methods. First, you can base your predictions on past observations; this method is usually good for short-term forecasting. Predictive skill is greatest for periods of about 12 hours. Long range forecasters are more concerned with climatological forecasting and by giving a broad weather picture over a period of time rather than attempting to give day to day details. This kind of forecast will sometimes give forecasts trends (i.e., warmer than normal) for an extended amount of time, such as a season (i.e., spring).
