Anton Dupleix was a lawyer. He worked on cases for other members of the bourgeoisie in Paris. It was the 1st January 1789, and Anton had just opened his office for business. He had had a lot of work to do for quite some time now, yet he could not charge much, because no one had money to give him. Cases were coming in from all over the surrounding French countryside. One such case, which Anton was working on personally, was Louis Rohan Vs. Marie Blum. Marie had been accused of stealing from her employer Louis, two sacks of potatoes to be exact.
