Capital Punishment, Friend or Foe?
Mahatma Gandhi once said, "An eye for an eye only leaves the whole world blind." This statement embodies the pacifist ideals that violence only leads to more violence. Capital punishment causes the continuation of said violence and many other problems; conviction of innocent persons, crime deterrence, moral predicaments and cruelty are all the effects. The court system of the United States of America's objective is to deliver justice, fairly and incredulously. This objective is neither sought nor met by the implementation of this harsh punishment. The many flaws in the death penalty outweigh the few benefits; it is a faulty form of reprimand. In all, capital punishment should be revoked because it is not beneficial to the protection of society or a deterrence to crime. In all, the death penalty is the highest form of barbarism in our nation and is ultimately unnecessary...
