Price For Beauty
With all the perfect bodies that are seen on T.V., on billboards, and magazines in our society, it is hard for anyone to not be affected by them. There is an extraordinary want and need for women to be perfect on the outside. Also, too much importance is placed on women to give in to the image of being beautiful. In the poem "Barbie Doll," written by Marge Piercy, you see the evidence of her use of irony, her attitude on the subjects of inner and outer beauty, and her attitude on how words can affect a woman's self confidence. In "Never Just Pictures," written by Susan Bordo, it discusses the affect advertisement and the media has on today's society, especially on young girls.
