Throughout history Punk Rock has changed and affected American Culture in many ways. Whether you love it or hate it, you can't help but notice the huge global popularity it has gained today. To understand its popularity you must first understand where and how the music started.
The first site of Punk in the US was in 1970 when a New York writer by the name of Nick Tosches wrote an essay titled "The Punk Muse: The True Story of Protopathic Spiff Including the Lowdown on the Trouble-Making Five-Percent of America's Youth." No wonder, over the years, Punk has been given such a bad stereotype. The first word was describing a Punk as a misled, trouble-making youth. That is also one reason why Punk has become so popular.
