World War 2: Austrailian Involvement
Summary: Australia and their involvement in the 2nd World War with Japan.
Australia was affected by Japan in World War 2 in many ways including a loss in faith with Britain, their so-called "Mother Country." World War 2 was the beginning of our strong defence relationship with America. It was the first time Australia had been attacked on home soil, with bombings in Darwin, and Sydney, and did not receive any help from Britain, instead looking to America. With the war against Japan, Australia also had a major land war victory on the Kokoda trail, in very testing conditions. Once the war worsened, women became a part of the force as well as the Aboriginals. Not only did women become part of the force, it was at this time when women also took part in men's area of working, such as farming, and even mechanical work. Australia had some down falls in the war, one of which was losing so many lives...
