Totalitarianism describes government completely takes control over every part of its citizens lives. From the jobs people held to the homes they lived in to how much money they made, the totalitarian government made all these decisions. Although having a government that makes a great amount of decisions in ones public as well as personal life may seem undesirable, this idea of government became very popular in countries with unstable governments after World War I. Hitler, of the Nazi party, gained popularity by speaking out against the present democratic government in Germany and speaking out against communism to become dictator of a totalitarian government, which he assembled. Joseph Stalin, of the Soviet Union, on the other hand was a very active member of the communist party was also a dictator who constructed a totalitarian government.
