In society today, movie creators and directors make movies for several different reasons. Some make a movie strictly for the money. Others create a picture to receive the acclaim of America, as well as to become famous. Then there are movies that are made to inform citizens about certain time periods or events. 61*, directed by Billy Crystal, is a movie that tells the story of two men (Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle) and their personal struggles during 1961. They were both in the hunt for Babe Ruth's single-season homerun record. The reporters and fans compared the teammates to each other unfairly. In choosing the veteran Mantle as the fan favorite, the fans made Maris become the focal point of a great deal of criticism. Mantle realized that Maris was receiving a lot of grief from an abundance of people. Mantle befriended him and helped him through these troubled times...
