Summary: World perceptions are heavily based on culture.
All individuals live in a reality that is completely based upon the perceptions they make about the world around them. Culture plays a huge part in the way we make these perceptions. In the American culture, these analyses are made almost completely from the sense of sight.

In the fast paced, individualistic society of America, sight is relied upon to maintain forward progress. As America grew to the massive size it is today, the communal part of our culture significantly decreased. Since people rarely gather for storytelling and group bonding, stories have to be written and printed to ensure their longevity. American society relies on sight because it is the fastest means for perception. Speed is important because time is money and if we took the time to fully explore the world, we wouldn't maintain pace. As time has gone on, American culture has emphasized quantity over quality...
