Economic Views of 20th Century
Summary: Different views regarding economic policy in the 20th century.
America has been shaped by great ideas spoken and preached by insightful individuals. Herbert Croly, Eugene Debs, Teddy Roosevelt, and Woodrow Wilson are prime examples of such insightful spokesmen. Often times for a new trend of philosophy to catch on it must possess a sense of radicalism. One of the most radical of his time was Eugene Debs. Debs stressed a Socialist way of living. Debs was abhorrent to political parties and believed both were just different measures of capitalism, and that both were hurtful toward the "wage working slave" or common man. Similar in degree of radicalism was Progressivist Herbert Croly. Croly believed that Democrats and Republicans would not endure the democracy based Progressivism. Less Radical however still notably indifferent was the stance of early twentieth century president Woodrow Wilson.
