"Two days later after Germany had taken over Poland." (Vaughan, 22). France and Great Britain were two of the most powerful countries during this time period. France and Great Britain agreed to help Poland and Romania if Hitler was to show aggression against them.
"Great Britain and France had declared war on Germany two days after Hitler invaded Poland. A week later Hitler asked the two nations to rescind their declarations. The issue of Poland had been settled Hitler said, and, once again, he promised to leave surrounding nations alone. This time Great Britain and France refused to budge. A six-month "non-war" between Germany and the Allies began, with both sides dropping more propaganda pamphlets than bombs from their planes. The standoff would continue until Hitler's attack on Denmark and Norway in April 1940." (Vaughan, 22).
