Humans have a very fragile hold on life and what they do and how they go about their lives can affect the cycle of humanity. Humans can be cruel, merciless or they can be very kind and benevolent; it all depends on what they want and how they feel about others. Some poets, when writing, try to create a persona that has humanity as it makes the poem more approachable and causes the reader to relate to the poem. Ray A. Young Bear and Amy Lowell have created personas that reflect a set view on humanity that is both cynical and depressing. Poets write with the intent to convey images that delight the senses and help the reader to understand what is happening in an appealing manner.
