Predicting Volcanoes
Summary: Evaluates how to try and predict volcanoes through changes in technology.
Over the years, many new advances have been made in predicting volcanic activity. Many new inventions and computer based technology has been invented to improve our knowledge and understanding of the way volcanoes work. Volcanoes are an unpredictable and magnificent occurrence, and with the knowledge that we have collected from new technology, we are able to enjoy their awesome power with being harmed by their deadly eruptions.
Major invention have been created to help scientist better predict when volcanoes are going to erupt. One major invention was the Seismograph. Created by Luigi Palmieri in 1856, the seismograph was created to record the tremors that are usually felt before an eruption. The seismograph records the movement of the ground with a pendulum that leaves squiggly lines on paper after every tremor these are called seismograms.
