From the birth of our nation, Canada has lived in the impeding shadow of the United States of America. Since it's creation, America has been the source of constant media frenzy and political drama. It was not until the 1960's was Canada able to match America's exuberance, and our answer was vivacious: Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Trudeau spent his years as our leader attempting to create a Canadian dream, based on two principles: individual and collective rights, and a just society, forever leaving his mark on Canadian politics.
Despite his motto of "reason over passion", Trudeau's devotion to creating a just society was evident in every decision and action he made as prime minister, the most dramatic being the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
