Summary: Gattaca review on the movie.
In any feature film the director carefully constructs all characters through the use of the film techniques in order to shape and influence our response towards the particular character. `Gattaca' directed by Andrew Niccol explores the issue of genetic engineering through a storyline in which genetically engineered people are seen as superior and important, and naturally born people are looked upon as worthless. The intelligence of every newborn baby is known through a simple DNA test and they are instantly marked as valid or invalid, a label that stays with them for life. The main character in this story is Vincent, a naturally born young man whose dreams of becoming an astronaut are ruined by the prejudice society in which he lives. To beat this system and achieve his dream, Vincent decides that his only option is to switch identities with Jerome, a crippled `valid' person and scam...
